Country information for Czech Republic - Financing of inclusive education systems
Both compulsory and upper-secondary education are free of charge in schools regulated by the conditions described in the Education Act. The national budget covers education expenditure, as well as additional expenditure to meet pupils’ special needs.
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports distributes financial resources to the regions according to reported pedagogical work. A new system of financing regional education came into effect on 1 January 2020.
Regions are obliged to re-distribute resources to individual schools, including additional budget resources to support the education of pupils with special needs. Pupils are also provided with support measures free of charge, as recommended by the school counselling facility.
